A true review of Hyatt Regency – our choice among family resorts in Puerto Rico

Tucked in the El Yunque rainforest, Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve has a beautiful combination of breathtaking ocean views and tropical landscapes. With the motto “Doing nothing means everything”, this is an ideal getaway for us after a year of juggling work-life balance. This is our top choice among family-friendly resorts in Puerto Rico. It’s fun for children, beautiful for mama, and relaxing for papa. In this post, I’ll share a true review of what we love and what we don’t about this kid-friendly resort in Puerto Rico.

1. Beautiful architecture and landscapes

Hyatt Regency is a stunning beauty. Whoever architect designed this resort must be talented and respectful of the natural beauty. With the white tapered columns architectural design, the high ceiling lobby creates a brightness for any perfect photo shoot. Despite the vast scale of the building, you can find the beauty of tropical nature in every corner: from the little green garden to the Koi fish pond around the main lobby.

This area has not been highly commercialized compared to other luxury destinations. We still see vast landscapes, tropical forests, and wild beachside with coral shelves. The downside of well-preserved natural beauty is the inconvenience of walking barefoot on the sand. The upside is a much less crowded beach with crystal-clear water. There are times when you feel like walking alone on a private beach.

2. Wide choice of restaurants and food:

With 16 restaurants and bars on-site, not to mention food trucks, it will take us more than 1 trip to taste all the restaurants here. I won’t be surprised if someone keeps returning to this marvelous resort for food. Seafood is a must-try. The restaurants on-site offer the freshest seafood I have ever tasted across the Americas. Coming from a home country where wet markets open at 3 am and people buy fresh catch every morning to cook during the day, I can tell the difference between fresh ingredients and frozen ones. Trust me, you won’t find this fresh seafood in other highly commercialized regions, where hospitality far outweighs the fishing industry in profit margins.

Morning Buffet of Hyatt chain has never disappointed me. In Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve, besides the wide variety of choices, the morning buffet is served in the stunning restaurant Water’s Edge. Don’t try boring typical American meals in the morning. Instead, I highly recommend a creative mix of typical waffles or pancakes with tasty coconut shreds and local fruits. These are signatures of local fresh and won’t be available on the a-la-carte menu during the day. Enjoy an abundant meal in a restaurant full of light, which will enlighten your day with fulfilled happiness.

3. Overbundant activities for a family-friendly resort on Puerto Rico island

With multiple swimming pools, free kid clubs, and ample creative activities, Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve is a tropical paradise for kids to explore water plays. Although the beachside is not ideal for building sand castles or swimming, the zip line with magnificent ocean views can compensate for it. Kayak is overbooked so we did not have a chance to try this activity. If you plan to go kayaking, please make sure to reserve beforehand.

With an 18-hole golf course and free bike services, this grand resort is ideal for daddy to enjoy a nice golf game while mommy and the kids go for a bike ride around the golf course. The gym and rainforest spa are great options for relaxing sessions without the kids. On Sunday, Mommy and Daddy can enjoy a free yoga class in the ocean breeze after a full breakfast. The Pickleball court is also a great option for family play.

Above all, my little cutie loves the golf cart ride the most. The resort is grand so we have free golf cart service to assist our traveling back and forth. We picked a bungalow far away from the lobby as we read some negative reviews about the noise at night from TripAdvisor. And we were glad about our choice; our nights were quiet and peaceful. My husband and I went to the balcony every night to look up to the stars, listen to the ocean waves, and sweep a martini together while our little cutie slept safe and sound.

To conclude, Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve is a wonderful place to rejuvenate ourselves and strengthen our family bonds. If you are looking for family resorts in Puerto Rico, check it out and let me know your thoughts. I wish you and your family a wonderful vacation ahead.

With love,

Ms. Prudence
